What you can expect from the Creating Calm App

15-Minute Virtual Yoga Classes
(LIVE & Pre-Recorded)

Each 15-minute yoga class is accessible for all – and yes, we mean for all! Each class is taught from both a chair and the floor, so no matter where you’re at and what you need, we’ll have you covered. The classes are designed to be a quick part of your day, either as part of your morning or evening routines, or as a fast reset during the day. All classes are trauma informed and taught in accordance with all 8 limbs of Patanjali’s yoga.

30-Minute Virtual Qigong Classes

Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, qigong is a form of moving meditation – a way to learn how to move your body with less tension, greater ease, and to build energy and relaxation.

When we practice Qigong, we learn how to move and control the energy within our body to build relaxation, resilience, flow, and harmony within and with those around us – a balance between our mind and body.

Guided Meditation Library

With meditations ranging from 60-seconds to 30 minutes, you’ll find something that will work for you in our growing guided meditation library. Never meditated before? We’ve got your back! We’ve included a quick Meditation 101 program where you can learn how to meditate in a way that aligns with you in just 5-minutes per day.

Pranayama Breathwork

Pranayama is one of the 8 limbs of yoga as described by Patanjali, and it is an incredibly powerful tool to either:

  • Lower stress and regain control over your nervous system to relax
  • Activate energy to restore and recharge

Take these exercises with you on the go with the recorded audio versions, or follow the breathing guide on the videos.

Journal Prompts Library

To help support your Svadhyaya practice (self discovery), Creating Calm has a library of journal prompts, discover more about yourself, shine a light on what may be holding you back from taking your next big step, and help you understand yourself on a much deeper level.

Each prompt includes additional guidance to help you use the prompt to it’s fullest.

Digital Self-Care Packages

I know that finding time for self-care is hard enough, but figuring out what to do that will actually restore energy and make you feel better (not just dissociate and take a temporary break from your stressors) – well, that can be even harder!

Every week you’ll receive a digital self-care package with a free activity, journal prompt, meditation, and playlist to really indulge and treat yourself.

Bonuses

The Life Balance Program

Every week we rotate through one of the 13 aspects of the Life Balance program so that you can start to find calm, steadiness in your life, create routines and habits that last, and find the community of support that you need to make the changes you want for your life.

Yoga Asana Posture Breakdown Library

Not sure which version of downward facing dog is right for you and your body? This library breaks down the intention of each posture and provides multiple different versions to help you find your best fit!

It's important to us that yoga, qigong, and all self-care resources be accessible to everyone that needs them which is why we have three very affordable options for your app

I understand that not everyone has a lot of extra income to spend on themselves. I have been there myself, adding up the groceries at the store to make sure I had enough money in my account to pay for it before I made it to the checkout and losing sleep wondering how we were going to make ends meet.

Before choosing your membership payment, please take a moment to consider the intention equity pricing structure, which was created in order to support access for those who hold marginalized identities and those experiencing significant financial hardship. If neither of those qualifications apply to you, we ask you to please consider our $25 or $35/month options to support others in our community who have decreased access to financial resources if this is accessible to you.

If neither of those qualifications apply to you, we ask you to please consider our $25 or $50/month options to support others in our community who have decreased access to financial resources if this is accessible to you.

If you aren’t able to afford the subscription payments, but would still like to participate we do have a limited number of scholarship spots available that are available on a first come first serve basis and do require that you send us an email each month to share your continued desire to use the app. Without this monthly communication from you, your access will be removed and we will give your spot to the next person on the waitlist.

The $15/month tier is designed for people with financial struggles, or those in marginalized communities such as those who are:

  • Black and/or Indigenous Persons of Color,
  • disabled,
  • LGBTQIA+,
  • neurodiverse,
  • living in a larger body,
  • immigrants,
  • seniors, etc.

We acknowledge the lasting damage capitalism and colonialism has had and continues to have on these communities, and want to help keep wealth in these groups. It’s also why we donate 10% of all monthly revenue to organizations that support these communities.

No. Every price tier offers the same amount of access within the Creating Calm App. We offer a sliding scale payment structure to allow for marginalized communities to have safe access, and those who have the means to help support the community as a whole. Our teachers and contributors will not know which tier you’ve joined at and will treat everyone the same.

This is an excellent question and one that we, the team at the Creating Calm app review often. We continue to learn and teach the history and philosophy of each modality that we incorporate into the app and ensure that we do our best to keep the practices as true to their cultural form as possible.

For example, the proper pronunciation of Sanskrit is required of our yoga instructors, as well as the integration of the Jnana Yoga path along with Vedic Philosophy and the 8 Limbs of Yoga as written by Patanjali.

That being said, we are always open to ways that we can can be more authentic and honor the practices we teach, so if you have feedback for this please send an email to support@becomingavery.com or use the contact form in your app.

If this requires a significant time investment on behalf of the person bringing this to our attention, compensation will be discussed.

It is our policy to create a fully accessible and brave space for all to heal together. Of course we can’t promise that this space will be 100% safe 100% of the time, even though we strive to make it as close to that as possible. But we at Creating Calm listen with an open mind and an open heart for ways we can make the space feel more welcoming and safe for you.

As someone with a disability and a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I, Avery, have some lived experience in a marginalized group, however I am aware of much of what being a white woman offers me that other groups do not receive.

Although myself and the rest of the team here at the Creating Calm App continue to do the work to learn about our different layers of privilege and the impact of White Supremacy on our actions, systems and intentions, we understand that we aren’t perfect and may still make a mistake.

We do our best to create as safe a space as possible for everyone, but understand that we don’t know what we don’t know. Differing view points, blunt feedback and discussions around content and interactions that contain microaggressions, racism, ableism, or discrimination of any kind are welcomed. If this requires a significant time investment on behalf of the person bringing this to our attention, compensation will be discussed.

Feedback these concerns can be sent to support@becomingavery.com or through the contact form in your app.

You can cancel at any time either yourself through the app, or by filling out our contact form at least three business days before your account renews. There’s no commitment to any number of months, however if we do change our pricing structure after you cancel you will not be able to rejoin at your previous rate.

Due to the digital nature of this product, refunds are not available. However, we are completely open to feedback and ideas so if something about your membership isn’t working for you, or you need something to make it more accessible to you – then please feel free to let us know and we’ll take it into consideration!

Every single one of the resources in the Creating Calm App has been optimized to give you the most return for your investment in time. It’s why the yoga classes are 15 minutes, the meditations start at 60 seconds long, and the breathwork classes are the shortest possible for you to get the most benefit (about 3 minutes).

Also, your burnout recovery program is portable! With the Creating Calm App, all of your burnout recovery resources are at your fingertips from your phone using the app, or from a web browser.

You’re not alone. The vast majority of people that I’ve worked with over the years have said this to me before we worked together.

It’s why I’ve decided to include the Life Balance Program within the Creating Calm app. It’s your step-by-step partner to guide you through your burnout recovery in just 10 minutes per week – just imagine having me as your personal coach in your back pocket!

I’ve taken all the guesswork and decision making off the table, with a clearly laid out program to help you recover without any added stress.

Not sure if this is for you?

I have a few questions to help you get off the fence and make the right decision for you

What have you tried before to help you recover from burnout and prevent it from happening again? What worked, and what didn’t work? What if this time you got off the cycle of burnout for good?

When was the last time you didn’t just get through your day, but actually enjoyed it?

Do you know how to generate more energy, motivation and focus without downing a few cups of coffee?

When was the last time you actually felt restored and rested, rather than needing a pep-talk to get out of bed in the morning?

When was the last time you felt like yourself and felt like you were living in alignment with your purpose?

Logically you know that you need to be consistent with taking better care of yourself and stick to your boundaries, but...

  • Your high-achieving personality struggles to slow down, rest and take care of yourself because it seems like ‘wasted time’ when there are so many important things to do (besides, aren’t vacations supposed to be when you rest?)
  • Boundaries feel really selfish because you’ve been the go-to person for so many people for so long, that you worry about how they will feel if you say “no” (because if you don’t help out, who will?)
  • Some days you have a ton of energy, focus and motivation, but on other days all of these things are virtually non-existent (where exactly do they go?)
  • You wish that you had two weeks where the world would just stop so that you could sleep, catch up, and finally feel ahead of the game (or at least a little bit in control of your life again)

The truth is we live in an increasingly capitalist system that values production over wellbeing

That’s just objective fact.

The beliefs, society, and learned behaviors we’ve grown up with are all centered around making us value our productivity at the top priority – and seeing rest as weak.

And although you and I may not have the ability to change that system – we do have the ability to learn to find balance within it.

As Kehinde Andrews said in their book, “The New Age of Empire – How Racism and Colonialism Still Rule the World” – the West cannot be the solution because it is the cause.

By combining ancient wisdom with an objective view at our current way of life, we have the best chance to not just survive – but actually feel and fully experience the beauty and wonder of this life. We’ll have the best chance to have the impact that we want to create – without killing ourselves in the process.

The reasons why you're feeling completely overwhelmed, stressed out and burned out may not be your fault...

... but it is your job to do something about it.

I know that’s likely the last thing you wanted to hear. I mean, your energy is already low (understatement, I know) and you have no idea how to make time to do the work needed to dig yourself out of this deep burnout pit that you’ve found yourself in.

I’ve been where you are.

I know what it feels like.

I’ve spend nearly a decade refining the Creating Calm system to show you how to recover from burnout – when you’re burned out.

I know that your time, energy, and focus are precious right now – and that’s why I’ve designed Creating Calm to work with your current energy levels (which are going to fluctuate day to day, moment to moment – but we’ll get into that more in the Creating Calm app)

It's time to stop associating your worth with your to-do list and start creating balance, wellbeing, and calm.
